AMC Conservation Approaches
How We’re Creating a More Sustainable Future
AMC is actively engaged in conservation and research from Maine to Virginia, helping to ensure the future enjoyment of the outdoors for all. Our approach to conservation combines science, advocacy, and on the ground protection and stewardship of land and trails.
Science enables evidence-based decision-making, ensuring conservation work is informed by the best-available data and expertise. Our dedicated team of research scientists are investigating the impacts of climate change in the mountains; the effects of air and water pollution on the natural world; and the strategies needed to support climate resilience and protect the vital ecosystems we rely on and enjoy.
At AMC, we believe the outdoors deserves a voice. We work with decision makers, federal and state agencies, and a wide range of non-governmental partners from Maine to Virginia to protect the outdoors. We advocate for public policy that addresses climate change, improves air and water quality, and protects the lands, forests, water, and outdoor recreation opportunities we depend on.
We prioritize innovative solutions to protect vital natural resources and community connections to natural lands. On over 114,000 acres in Maine, AMC is modeling a land management approach that balances conservation and restoration alongside responsible forestry and awe-inspiring recreation.
