The Venice Canals are located near the Pacific Coast between Washington Avenue and Venice Boulevard, just two blocks east of Pacific Avenue. I would suggest parking Ocean Street or Dell, which both run parallel to the beach.

Description

This hike won't take you into the wilderness, but it can provide an hour of pleasant walking in a lovely setting. In 1900 the town of Venice, California was founded with a 20 mile network of canals and waterfront homes. Today, all that is left is a few miles of waterway near the infamous Venice boardwalk. The setting is pastoral, with lovely cottages facing the water, landscaped walkways, ducks and row boats meandering about. There are 14 small bridges that span the rectangular canal area, giving you the flexibility to hike as much or as little as you like. For those able to handle crowds and pushy street vendors, the boardwalk is just a few blocks away.
