Description

Traveling west along the South Ridge Trail will connect a hiker to the Diemer Trail and eventually to the Telegraph Canyon Trail, the major artery at the heart of Telegraph Canyon within Chino Hills State Park. Hikes along this loop are far shadier (and somewhat easier) than the trudge along the ridge up to San Juan Hill (see "South Ridge Trail to San Juan Hill" among the writeups that I have posted on this website). During the vernal months, expect to be surrounded by giant, rolling green hills occasionally speckled with morning glories and often inundated with black mustard and thistle that are now ubiquitous within these elevations throughout Southern California. The loop is completed along the Easy Street Trail, which offers a portal to a shady, seasonal stream relied upon by wildlife within the park.
