What are the benefits of signing up?
There are several benefits to joining Outdoor LA including:
...and much more!
How do I host an event?
Just fill out the Add Event for and wait for a moderator to approve it.
What can I do to make sure my event is not rejected?
You can do a number of things to improve your chances of having your event approved.
Depending on your event some of these rules may not apply, but the more you are able to follow, the more likely it is to be approved.
Can I host for profit events?
We encourage every one who is running an event which would be of interest to our users to post it. If you are running an outdoor business you may certainly use this site to promote it. However if your promotions are spammy or your business is not something our users are interested in your moderators will simply reject your events.
What do trail difficulty ratings mean?
The trail difficulty ratings were developed by one of our leaders to help you easily determine how fit you should be before attempting a hike. It is Trails rated 1-3 are good for most everyone. Ratings of 4-6 are good for people who are regularly active and experienced. 7+ are only for those who are in excellent physical condition. If it is your first time you should start with a trail rated no higher than a level 3. The rating itself is determined by dividing the distance in miles by 4 (rounding up) and adding the elevation gain in feet divided by 1000 (rounding up).
